Day 3: Chautauqua mornings, Pearl Street wandering, and a final night seafood feast

Chautauqua Dining Hall

Your last day is Boulder at its most Boulder: morning light on the Flatirons, slow wandering downtown, and a final dinner that makes you quietly consider extending the trip.

Things to do and see

Chautauqua Park (the postcard view in real life)
Start at Chautauqua Park, where the meadow opens up, and the Flatirons rise straight out of the grass. If you want a short hike, choose something that gets you views without draining the tank on your final day, especially if you’re planning to spend the afternoon strolling Pearl Street. For an easier option, take the Enchanted Mesa Trail. If you’re up for more of a challenge, Royal Arch is a classic with a big payoff.

Yoga at Chautauqua (if the timing works)
Chautauqua runs rotating wellness programming. For example, their “Yoga For All” series has been listed as a Wednesday offering through mid December (schedule varies by season/year), and they also host one-off yoga events. Check the Chautauqua events calendar for your dates.

Pearl Street Mall (no agenda recommended)
Give yourself permission to wander: bookstores, boutiques, galleries, and plenty of places to pause for coffee or a quick snack.

Mork & Mindy’s House (quick photo stop)
A few blocks away, Mork and Mindy’s House is a fun, fast detour, especially if you like your travel with a little pop culture scavenger hunt.

What to eat

Breakfast: Chautauqua Dining Hall
Keep it classic and location perfect. Breakfast at the Dining Hall puts you right at the base of the Flatirons, ready for a walk or a trail.

Lunch: The Sink
For a lunch that feels like local history with a side of chaos (in the best way), head to The Sink on the Hill. Open daily and legendary for its long-running Boulder presence. Featured on Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives”.

Dinner: Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar
Wrap the trip with seafood and oysters downtown. Jax is a lively final night pick, with posted dinner hours that typically start mid-afternoon (and it’s an easy walk from the Pearl Street Mall).

Optional detour for live music (seasonal): Gold Hill Inn
If you’re ok with hopping back in the car for a mountain-side dinner and live music, the Gold Hill Inn can be a memorable add-on, but it’s seasonal, so check before you commit.
